Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and other Congress leaders were misusing the Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) to blackmail people, settle political scores and intimidate the poor. He slammed HYDRAA for the selective targeting of poor households, while illegal constructions linked to Congress leaders, including Revanth Reddy and his family, remained untouched.

“HYDRAA does not dare to touch illegal properties of those in power, but demolishes the homes of the helpless,” he said, after meeting the family of BRS Borabanda division minority leader Mohammad Sardar, who died by suicide after alleged harassment by Congress corporator Baba Fasiuddin. Sardar’s house and shop were demolished by HYDRAA, leading to the tragic incident.

Visibly emotional, Rama Rao met Sardar’s children and assured the family of lifelong support. He vowed to fight until justice is done for Sardar’s family, even if it means approaching the Supreme Court. He also pledged to rebuild the demolished home and shop and secure the children’s future.

Addressing the media, the BRS working president questioned Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi’s silence on Telangana’s “bulldozer politics.” He said Rahul Gandhi was campaigning for “Mohabbat ka Dukaan” in Uttar Pradesh, but was turning a blind eye to Revanth Reddy’s “Nafrat ka Makaan” in Telangana.

He said the Congress leaders were misusing government agencies to coerce BRS workers into defecting. He warned that officials who act as Congress puppets would be held accountable once BRS returned to power.

“We won’t forget or forgive. If this continues, no Congress or BJP leader will walk the streets freely,” he declared.
