HYDERABAD: Not just opposition MLAs, but a few Congress legislators too complained in the Assembly on Saturday about faulty irrigation water supply to farmers this season, failure to take up desilting works and other issues. They listed out various problems being faced by people in their respective constituencies.
There was severe water scarcity in Chennur constituency and crops were drying up. An appeal was being made to Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy to release two tmcft water from Yellampally.
Last year, there was eight tmcft water available in Yellampally and this year 12 tmcft was available and water should be released immediately to save the standing crops, said G Vivek Venkatswamy from Chennur.
“Do seniors have any right to talk in the House and express Adilabad people’s issues? Since the last five days, I have been making a request to speak about the problems being created by the forest department, especially regarding podu lands,” fumed G Vinod Kumar from Bellampally.
T Megha Reddy from Wanaparthy wanted the State government to extend LRS scheme deadline to the end of April for the convenience of plot owners.
“Tail end areas were not getting water supply from many canals, including D8, D5, Buddaram right canal, Ghanpur right canal due to silt and wild growth and it has to be cleared immediately. Land grabbers are eyeing the vast lands of Pebbair cattle fair, temple lands and riverbed areas. I appeal to the government to send HYDRAA to Wanaparthy as well,” Reddy said.
Meanwhile, Paidi Rakesh Reddy of the BJP from Armoor said that since the last 15 months, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his cabinet colleagues were talking a lot about debts.
“People are disappointed and they have realized that many would not be offered any benefits in the near future. If the same trend is continued, investors will not come and set up industries here. Real estate players will not invest here,” he said.
Rakesh Reddy also said officers were not following protocol and many official programmes were being conducted without his participation.
“To say in the Chief Minister’s language, our blood is boiling,” he said.
