Siddipet: Dubbak MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy alleged that the Congress government was not even following protocol in permitting MLAs to release irrigation water to their respective constituencies from irrigation projects.

When he planned to release irrigation water to his constituency through the Ramayampet canal on Friday, he received multiple calls from officials requesting him not to release water, stating that they had received directions from higher authorities. Stating that the entire Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) was constructed by the BRS government, he said the Congress government was not even allowing them to release water.

He further alleged that the Congress had failed to take up desilting of canals even two years after coming to power. Despite repeatedly requesting Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy to take up the digging of distributary canals under Mallanna Sagar, the Dubbak MLA said no progress had been made so far.

He said the Irkode Lift Irrigation Project works, taken up with an outlay of Rs.111 crore to supply irrigation water to upland areas, were progressing at a snail’s pace.

The BRS performed puja at Manthur in Raipole mandal to mark the release of Godavari water through the 13D canal. SC, ST Commission Chairman Bakki Venkataiah and others were present.
