Hyderabad: The Telangana unit of the Congress on Friday lodged a complaint with Chief Electoral Officer C Sudarshan Reddy against Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay, seeking that he be barred from campaigning for the Jubilee Hills bypoll.
In the complaint, TPCC Election Commission Coordination Committee Chairman P Rajesh Kumar alleged that Bandi Sanjay used abusive language against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at a campaign in Borabanda, which amounted to a violation of the Model Code of Conduct. The Union Minister had urged voters to vote on religious lines, which was also in breach of the MCC, he pointed out.
Rajesh Kumar also alleged that Bandi Sanjay encouraged voters to accept Rs.20,000 per vote from other parties and then vote for the BJP, which he said was a serious violation of election norms.
“Bandi Sanjay should be sacked from the Ministry for provoking and seeking votes on religious basis,” Rajesh Kumar demanded.
