Yadadri-Bhongir: Independent candidate of Nalgonda LAC for MLC elections and Congress ZPTC D R Nagesh on Friday said it was unfortunate that Congress did not field a candidate in the elections even though it had more than 300 voters in erstwhile Nalgonda district.
Speaking after casting his vote at a polling station in Bhongir, he said that the election of TRS candidate would have been unanimous if he had not contested in the elections. He found fault with the decision of CPI(M) not to participate in polling as denying the voting right, which was provided by Dr B R Ambedkar in the Constitution. The CPI(M) has lost its earlier culture of supporting people fighting for the rights of the people, he said.
Indirectly targeting Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, he said that a Congress leader, who aspired to become TPCC president and also won as MP, ignored the interests of the party in the elections. The Congress party ZPTCS, MPPS and MPTCs were not told by the party leaders to vote for any of candidates in the elections, he added. The people were well known about the acts of the Congress leaders have benefitted to whom. He made it clear that Congress leaders worked for the victory of the TRS candidate.
He said that though he was Congress ZPTCs, the party leaders did not make any statement in support of his candidature. The Congress leaders should answer to the party workers on the fate of the party in the erstwhile Nalgonda district.
Stating that erstwhile Nalgonda was the only district in the State with two Congress MPs, he said the two MPs were giving indications that Congress had lost its base in the district. They should not forget that the party members worked day and night for their victory in the Lok Sabha election.
