Karimnagar: Health Minister Eatala Rajender on Wednesday said economic empowerment of women was possible only if they work hard with constructive planning.

The Minister was speaking at a programme where he distributed bank loan cheques to Self Help Groups (SHGs) at his camp office in Huzurabad on Wednesday. Cheques for a total of Rs 15.5 lakh were distributed to 19 women’s groups.

Rajender said that patience, tolerance and hard-work were great qualities of women and nobody can compete with them in these areas. “It is possible for women to scale great heights through hard work and some changes in techniques,” he said, and advised them to start new businesses based on changing trends in society.

Stating that forming groups help women achieve success, the Minister said the State government was providing all assistance for economic empowerment of women. “Big business persons, who earn crores of rupees, also started their businesses with small investments. Women should not forget that a long distance walk also starts with a single step,” he said.

Advising to utilise loan amounts in a proper way, he assured to conduct skill development training programmes to provide employment to educated members of women groups. Priority would be given to single women in providing self-employment loans.

Collector K Shashanka informed that plans have already been prepared to provide bank loans to eligible women groups, single women, agriculture, non-agriculture and agriculture allied sectors. As part of it, loans distribution programme was conducted wherein SHG groups from Huzurabad, Jammikunta, Veenavanka and Illandakunta were given cheques.

Additional collector Narsimha Reddy, DRDA PD Venkateshwar Rao, MEPMA PD Ravinder, Lead Bank Manager Laxman, District Industrial Center General Manager Naveen Kumar and others participated in the programme.
