Contract staff, ANMs and junior doctors press for salaries, benefits
Contract staff, ANMs, and junior doctors across Telangana continue protests over delayed salaries, arrears, and benefits, with demands for regularisation, retirement benefits, and a green channel for timely stipend release still unresolved.
Hyderabad: Thousands of contract workers and security staff attached to various health departments and teaching hospitals have regularly protested, demanding timely and full payment of their salaries.
In the past 18-months, the second ANMs (Auxiliary Nurse Midwives) have undertaken a series of protests, demanding retirement benefits, regularization of their services and release of pending arrears.
Even the junior doctors in teaching hospitals launched a medical strike for a brief period of time, before the State government convinced them to call off their stir. However, till now, the main demand of junior doctors to establish a green channel for regular release of stipends, has not been addressed.
