Hyderabad: The Karkhana police booked a case against a popular eatery (Grill -9) after a police inspector from the Central Crime Station (CCS) and his driver allegedly fell ill after eating ‘Shawarma’ from the outlet.
The incident occurred on September 24, when the Inspector T. Vamshi Krishna Rao, along with his driver Kiran Kumar Reddy, was returning from Secunderabad when they stopped and bought two shawarmas for a quick snack.
Police sources said both the inspector and his driver ate the shawarma and fell seriously ill the next day.
Based on the complaint by Rao, who accused the eatery of serving adulterated food, the Karkhana police on Thursday booked a case and took up investigation.
