Hyderabad: A couple from the city was duped of Rs 40 lakh by the Cyber fraudsters who on pretext of arranging purchase of the kidneys for Rs 1.20 crore duped them.
According to the police, the couple who are from the city took loans to the tune of around one crore to set up business in the city around a year ago. However due to lockdown the business did not pick up and the couple suffered huge losses.
“To come out of the losses and repay the loans, the company started looking out for persons who were in need of kidneys. After searching a number they came in contact with one person who assured to facilitate the sale of kidneys for Rs 1.20 crore,” said Hyderabad Cybercrime officials.
On pretext of getting some clearance done for kidney donation, the man collected around Rs 40 lakh on various instances from the couple. However, for a few days the fraudsters did not take calls and switched off mobile phone.
Realizing they were duped they approached the Hyderabad cybercrime police who booked a case and took up investigation.
