Hyderabad: A full bench of the Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli, Justice MS Ramchandra Rao and Justice A Rajashekar Reddy on Friday ordered continuation of virtual proceedings in all courts in the State till June 30. The full bench gave this order keeping in view of the spread of the COVID-19 virus and the pandemic situation in the state. The full bench gave its order in a suo motu writ petition based on a letter written by the Telangana Bar Council President. The full bench also issued directions for the extension of interim orders existing today in all the court cases in the state till June 30.
Night Curfew issue:
A two judge panel of the Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B Vijaysen Reddy on Friday ordered the State Government to extend the night curfew by another week. The panel had earlier adjourned this case from Thursday to Friday to hear government’s decision on curfew. It expressed dissatisfaction at the government for not coming up with any decision on further action in the state for controlling pandemic situation. “Since yesterday we were asking for your further decision, knowing very well the government order on curfew would expire today. You did not come up with any decision till now”, the panel commented.
The court said it would pass required orders, if necessary.
At the request of the Advocate General, the panel gave a 45-minute deadline to the government to respond. In the post lunch session, the Advocate General placed before court the decision on extension of night curfew. The panel also inquired if there were any further elections that were supposed to be held in coming months and directed the State Government and Election Commission to inform court on any upcoming elections.
