Panaji: Covid-19 cases are spiking in the national capital, Delhi, because of poor health management systems and shoddy SOPs, Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said on Wednesday.

The charge made by the Goa Health Minister, comes a day after Aam Aadmi Party MLA and Delhi Jal Board vice chairman Raghav Chadha tried to upstage Goa Power Minister Nilesh Cabral over power tariff comparisons between Delhi and Goa and goaded Cabral for a public debate on the issue.

“Ask Raghav Chadha, if the (health) systems in Delhi are so good, then why are cases increasing in Delhi. Do you have any answer for the spike in cases in Delhi? That means their government does not have the right SOPs and practices in place,” Rane told reporters on Monday.

Goa on the contrary, the Health Minister said, offered free medical treatment for all Covid-19 patients.

While Goa has been witnessing a dip in Covid-19 cases over the last one week, the national capital has seen a rise in novel coronavirus cases, with the union territory recording 6,396 infections on Tuesday.

Rane also said that the Chadha’s promise ahead of the 2022 state assembly polls of free power to domestic consumers for consumption of up to 200 units was a yarn and an effort to misguide the people of Goa.

“People from Delhi come here and try to spin yarns. They are trying to misguide the people of Goa,” Rane said, adding that the party which failed to win a single state assembly seat in the 2017 polls, would not be able to build a base in the coastal state.
