Hyderabad: The Kerala State government has made Covid-19 negative report mandatory for pilgrims intending to have a darshan at Sabarimala temple.

In a letter addressed to Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Kerala Chief Secretary Vishwas Mehta said the Covid negative report obtained within 48 hours of darshan was mandatory for pilgrims for registration.

He said a large number of pilgrims from Telangana would be arriving at Sabarimala. In view of the restrictions due to health protocols followed during Covid-19, the government has taken various measures to safeguard the pilgrims.

According to Mehta, all pilgrims must register on virtual portal of the police department (https://sabarimalaonline.org/). Initially, only 1,000 pilgrims per day and 2,000 pilgrims per day during weekends would be allowed on first come first serve basis.

Antigen test facilities were provided at the entry points on cost basis to help pilgrims. Those with co-morbidities would be strictly forbidden from travelling for the pilgrimage.

Those holding BPL cards and Ayushman Bharat Yojana health card etc., should carry them at the time of the pilgrimage. Bathing at Pampa River and night halt at Sannidhanam, Pampa and Ganapathi Kovil would not be allowed.

‘Abhishekam’ using ghee after having darshan would be not be allowed and pilgrims routes would be restricted to only Erumeli and Vadaserrikara, Mehta added.
