Kothagudem: The guard member of Azad, CPI (Maoist) State Committee member and Bhadradri Kothagudem regional secretary, surrendered to police along with his wife.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Dutt told media persons here on Saturday that the Maoist couple left the party fearing for their life due to spread of Covid-19 amongst Maoist party cadre and the harassment by the party top leadership.

Madivi Iduma alias Surender, the area committee member of Manuguru Local Organisation Squad (LOS) and his wife Madakam Budri alias Sony, dalam member of Manuguru LOS surrendered before Kothagudem police.

Iduma was an important cadre in Maoist party as he was currently working as a guard member to Azad. He joined the Maoist party in 2018. His wife Budri too was working as a guard to Azad. She has been with the Maoist party since 2016. The two got married in May 2021.

The recent death of Central Committee Member, Haribhushan, tech in-charge Sobhroy, Gangu, Prakash and Bharatakka due to Covid spread fear among the Maoist party cadres, the SP informed.

“The Maoist party members were now realising how the Central Committee Members and other senior party leaders were acting in a negligent manner towards them and violating their human rights,” Dutt said.

He appealed to all Maoist party leaders and members to surrender before the police. The police department would ensure proper medical treatment and rehabilitation of surrendered naxals as per government policy, he added.

Additional SP, V Tirupathi, Bhadrachalam ASP, G Vineeth and others were present. The SP handed over financial assistance to the surrendered naxals as an immediate relief from the department.
