Visakhapatnam: A Covid patient committed suicide by jumping from the top of the hospital building in the city on Thursday.

M. Venubabu, 37, of Gollalapalem area in Bheemunipatnam, was admitted in Visakhapatnam Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) government hospital on Tuesday for treatment of coronavirus disease. His condition was said to be stable. However, he was overcome by fear and took the extreme step, according to family sources.

This is the third such instance of COVID patients committing suicide in the hospital which has only glass windows standing on waist-high walls on the corridors in top floors. Any attempt to move out opening the windows only results in a fatal fall, it is said.
