Nalgonda: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday said that Covid testing and medicine kits made available at Primary Health Centre (PHC) level to also extend medical services to the affected people in view of the third wave of the pandemic.

Speaking at a review meeting held with officials of different departments at the District Collectorate, Jagadish Reddy said the State government had made all the required arrangements to face any situation in the third wave. Treatment would be provided to Covid patients at PHCs also in addition to district hospitals and area hospitals.


Stating that there were 614 Covid positive active cases in the district, he said that the people must follow the Covid norms of wearing masks and maintaining physical distance. Only eight Covid patents were admitted in the hospitals in the district and getting treatment. Beds with oxygen and ventilator facility were readied at Government General Hospital of Nalgonda. He made it clear that there was no scarcity of COVID testing and isolation kits in the district. The staff of medical department would identify the persons suffering from symptoms of COVID and extend isolation kits to them, he added. However, the situation was under control, he added.

He said that 160 ICU beds and 400 bed ward for COVID patents was made available in Government General Hospital of Hyderabad.

Discussing with the officials about the development of Nalgonda town, he instructed the officials to prepare a plan for development of Nalgonda municipality as per the statements made by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K Taraka Rama Rao. He has also underline a need to come out with a plan for proposed Nalgonda Development Authority and beatification of the town.

District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil said that precautionary measures have taken out to minimize the spread of Omicron variant of COVID in the district. Special drive of booster dose of COVID vaccine to ANMs, ASHA workers, front line warriors and persons aged above 60 years was taken up in the district.

MLC M Koti Reddy, MLAs Gadari Kishire, Kancherla Bhupal Reddy, Chirumathi Lingaiah, Ramavath Ravindra Kumar Naik and Nallmothu Bhaskar Rao, District Medical and Health Officer Dr Kondal Rao were also attended the review meeting.
