Hyderabad: CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao on Tuesday urged the Congress government to immediately release the expert committee’s report on the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages and begin restoration work based on its recommendations.

Addressing a press conference, Rao said the government should prioritise completing long-pending irrigation projects instead of taking up new ones. The CPI is an ally of the Congress government in Telangana.

He also demanded that the government immediately conduct elections for recognised unions in the TGSRTC. After the elections, the promised merger of TGSRTC with the State government should be completed on priority, in line with the Congress party’s assurance to RTC employees.

Rao warned that employees would be forced to resume their agitation if the government failed to fulfil its promise.

The CPI MLA also called on the government to immediately clear pending student fee reimbursements and dues owed to retired employees.

He further demanded that the upcoming monsoon session of the Assembly be held for at least 10 days to facilitate detailed discussions on key public issues.
