Hyderabad: CPI National Secretary K Narayana has decided to skip the annual “Alai-Balai” programme organized by Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya in protest against professor Saibaba’s death and human rights violations.
In a communication to the Haryana Governor, the CPI leader said “Excuse me that I will not be able to attend your “Alai Balai ” Programme, in which every year you invites me irrespective of my political affiliation…”
“Thanks for the invitation, but as you know that Prof. Saibaba, a famous intellectual and Professor of a prestigious University of Delhi was arrested by the government of India despite he was 90 percent orthopaedically challenged. Even bail which is a right under trial was denied,” he said.
“Ultimately after 10 years, the court found him not guilty. Me and my party may not agree to Prof. Saibaba politics but there is no doubt that human right violation has taken place and ultimately the State has taken away from this world,” he stressed.
“You are a gentleman but ultimately you represent the same government which led to his death. Thanks for your invitation but in protest I will not be attending the the programme organised by you,” Narayana said.
