Hyderabad: The CPI(M) State unit has demanded that the Congress government clear the pending Rs 7,500 crore towards fee reimbursement and scholarships at the earliest.
To this effect, the CPI(M) has extended support to the “Fees Poru Deeksha” protest scheduled to be held at Indira Park on Sunday. Members of a BC students’ organisation met CPI(M) State Secretary John Wesley here on Thursday. Following the meeting, Wesley assured full support to the protest being organised by BC students’ organisations.
He also criticised the Congress government for neglecting the welfare of students, particularly those belonging to BC, SC, ST and minority communities. He said it was unfortunate that due to the government’s delay in clearing the pending fee reimbursement dues, many students were forced to discontinue their higher education midway.
Stating that several college managements were not issuing certificates to students as they had failed to clear their fees, he said students were not only forced to halt their studies but were also losing employment opportunities as they could not produce the required certificates.
