Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (South) team caught two persons who were organising cricket betting and seized Rs 5.3 lakh cash along with two mobile phones from them.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house at Mangalhat and caught Shankar Singh (34) who was organising the cricket betting. Based on information provided by him, the police nabbed Mohd Javeed (34) of Chandrayangutta who is a punter. One person Mohd Khadeer, who is also involved in the racket, is at large.
“Shankar Singh along with Javeed and Khadeer were organising cricket betting on the ongoing IPL cricket matches. On reliable information, a trap was laid and they were caught,” said S Raghavendra, Inspector Task Force (South).
The two persons along with the property were handed over to Mangalhat police station for further action. Efforts are on to nab Khadeer who is absconding.
