Crimes decline by 7 per cent in Adilabad in 2024

Alam said that the district registered 3,911 crimes in this year as against 4,218 offences in 2023, indicating a decline by 7 percent

Adilabad: Superintendent of Police Gaush Alam said that the district comparatively saw a dip in crimes in 2024. He addressed pressmen to brief details of annual crime rate recorded in the district in 2024 here on Tuesday.

Alam said that the district registered 3,911 crimes in this year as against 4,218 offences in 2023, indicating a decline by 7 percent. The district witnessed 13 murders, 45 rapes, 30 cases for indulging banned matka (gambling), 77 cases NDPS Act, 25 cases for smuggling PDS rice, 344 cheatings, 108 cyber frauds, six cases for selling spurious cotton seeds.


As many as 5,583 drunk and drive cases were registered in 2024 as against 6,753 cases reported in previous year, reflecting a decrease by 17 percent. A total of 195 cases were booked for smuggling Deshidaaru when compared to 517 cases in the corresponding period, showing a drop by 62 percent.

The superintendent noted that 729 cases were convicted out of the total 1,714 cases which were being trialed in this year, posting 42.53 percent. He stated that funds Rs 16.53 lakh were refunded to victims of cyber-related offences. A total of 650 programmes were organized to create awareness over cyber-crimes.

Besides controlling crimes, Police conducted a mega job mela for recruiting security guards with the help of GMR Group, Raksha and MNC companies. As many as 500 candidates attended and (325) candidates were selected. A blood donation camp was organized and raised 275 units of blood for the needy.
