Hyderabad: The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2025 has undergone major changes for both undergraduate and postgraduate admissions in the country. The CUET for UG and PG programmes will be conducted once a year in the computer-based test mode, unlike in hybrid mode so far, and there will be negative marking.

Another change in the CUET UG is the eligibility criteria for the undergraduate programmes, which the UGC has opened up for all intermediate or Class XII students irrespective of their stream of study provided they crack the entrance test of the subject concerned.

The UGC on Wednesday announced proposed revised methodology for CUET UG and PG 2025 on the basis of recommendations of an expert committee, which examined various aspects of the test, such as its structure, number of papers, duration of test papers, syllabus alignment, and operational logistics. Feedback was sought from the stakeholders on or before December 26.

As per proposed methodology, the CUET-UG will be conducted one-hour subject per paper. As for the CUET-PG, the duration is 90 minutes per subject per paper. In both entrance examinations, all questions are compulsory and there will be negative scoring.

Domain-specific subject/paper on entrepreneurship, teaching aptitude, fashion studies, tourism, legal studies and engineering graphics has been discontinued in the CUET-UG and admissions to these programmes will be on the basis of performance in the general aptitude test.
