Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police have intensified investigation into the Raidurgam burglary case and a special team has been sent to Mumbai, where the Nepali couple is suspected to have taken shelter.

The couple, Laxman and Pavithra, allegedly fled to Mumbai in a cab and avoided public transport and trains to avoid being tracked by the police. They are believed to be planning to fly to Nepal from Mumbai.

The Raidurgam police had already alerted all the police stations in the city, neighbouring States and police stations at border areas. CCTV footage and photos of the suspect couple collected from the crime scene were also shared.

Sources said the Cyberabad police were alerted by the Mumbai police of the couple’s movements at the airport and market places. With an intensive search on for the last two days, the couple is also trying to dispose of the gold ornaments at gold shops in Mumbai and transfer the money into their accounts.

The Raidurgam police have also detained a few persons who were in contact with the couple, who decamped with Rs 15 lakh and 1kg of gold ornaments from their employer’s house in Telecom Nagar in Gachibowli.
