Finance Minister T Harish Rao is felicitating the freedom fighters on the eve of 75th Independence Day in Siddipet on Sunday
Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Sunday said Dalits in the country were feeling ignored by the governments during the 75 years of independent India.
Hoisting the national flag at Government Degree College grounds in Siddipet to mark the 75th Independence Day, the Minister said that the TRS government came up with the Telangana Dalit Bandhu scheme to restore their faith in democracy. “The scheme conceived by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who is concerned about Dalit welfare, is aimed at the community’s empowerment,” he said.
Stating that the government will deposit Rs 10 lakhs in the accounts of poor Dalits without any bank linkage, Harish Rao said Dalit Bandhu will become a model for the rest of the country like Rythu Bandhu, which is being replicated by the Centre and many State governments. He said that they were taking a number of initiates for the benefit of the caste-based professions.
The Minister elaborated various welfare and developmental schemes undertaken by the State government for the benefit of various sections. To mark the Independence Day, students performed various cultural progammes.
Different departments set up stalls to exhibit their work as part of Independence day celebrations. People from all walks of the life thronged the grounds to watch the colourful celebrations. The Minister also presented bank linkage loan cheques to SHG women on this occasion.
Collector Siddipet P Venkatrami Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chariperson V Roja Sharma, MLC Farooq Hussain and others were present.
