Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan accused the Congress government of neglecting Telangana’s IT sector, alleging that the State was losing jobs and investments under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy‘s leadership. He held the Chief Minister responsible for the loss of around 20,000 IT jobs after Cognizant shifted its proposed expansion from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam.
Demanding accountability, he asked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to release a white paper detailing the investments actually secured following his overseas tours, particularly the Davos visit.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan here, Sravan said Hyderabad’s reputation as a leading IT hub was eroding under Congress rule, despite the sector’s rapid expansion during the previous BRS government. He said IT exports rose from Rs. 50,000 crore in 2014 to over Rs. 2 lakh crore by 2023, while employment increased from three lakh to nine lakh under BRS rule.
However, he alleged that the Congress government had reversed the growth and cited the government’s own admission in the Assembly that the State had lost 7,000 IT jobs. He further claimed that nearly 1.2 lakh IT jobs had been lost under the present regime.
Sravan sought an explanation for the delay in implementing the promised job calendar and accused the government of failing to create an investor-friendly environment. Stating that over 18 lakh private-sector jobs were created through TS-iPASS during the BRS regime, he alleged that the Congress government was damaging Telangana’s investment climate and jeopardising the State’s future employment prospects.
