Hyderabad: Performance variation of frontline executives and line managers is huge and is a cause of lower productivity in the fast-moving consumer goods and consumer durables segments, stressed HR experts who participated in a webinar organised by HR solutions player TMI Group.
The webinar, anchored by TMI Group CEO Ravi Ramakrishnan, focused on the frontline executives and line managers’ performance modelling and challenges, and the root cause analysis of performance variance. He shared research findings of TMI based on its 30-year experience in the HR space.
TMI Group Chairman T Muralidharan said making performance decisions based-on yesterday’s data and hypothesis is outdated. Decisions must be made in the future on rich data, AI-based visualisations, performance modelling and corrective action based on root causes of non-performance.
Teams recruited and working in the same cohorts showed variance in performance. Intervention in terms of training ensures continuous performance. High attrition was linked to unapproved leave of absence and when managed well led to reduction in attrition rates, he said.
Rahul Sinha, Pidilite Chief Human Resources Officer said variance in performance will be there and the objective should be to reduce it. Sinha shared how technology is being used to nudge, not push, the sales team members to achieve their goals. Sharing success stories within the teams had a positive impact, he said.
Sudhanshu Pokhriyal, CEO of Brilloca, which is part of the Somany Home Innovation Limited, said lack of skills, mentoring, resources and motivation, expectations, manager relationship with employee, and poor time management were among the aspects that impact the performance in the fast moving consumer durables industry, according to a release.
