Jagtial: Delay in the allocation of land for a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jagtial has turned into a political controversy between the Congress and BJP, with leaders of both parties blaming each other.
Going a step further, Nizamabad MP D Arvind has decided to stage a protest demonstration in the name of ‘Dharma Deeksha’ in Jagtial town on May 18 in protest against the delay in the allocation of land.
The central government has sanctioned four Kendriya Vidyalayas to Telangana. In this regard, the Union Cabinet took a decision in October 2025. Of them, one school was allocated to Jagtial district. MP Arvind took the initiative for the sanctioning of the school as Jagtial falls under his Nizamabad parliamentary constituency.
It was decided to establish the school on 10 acres of land belonging to the Water and Land Management Training and Research Institute (WALAMTARI) located in Chalgam on the outskirts of Jagtial town. The land was finalised as it is located close to the town as well as beside the national highway. Since the school would function in day-school mode, the land is considered suitable.
Based on recommendations from the MP and local MLA Dr Sanjay, district collector Satyaprasad sent proposals to the state government for the allocation of WALAMTARI land to the Kendriya Vidyalaya. MLA Sanjay met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Adluri Laxman Kumar and requested them to allocate the land. However, there was no response from the government.
The MP alleged that Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy was deliberately delaying the land allocation.
In the wake of the delay in the allocation of Chalgam land, the MLA made a fresh proposal to allocate land in his native Antargoan village. However, BJP leaders alleged that Sanjay brought the new proposal for selfish gains. Recently, BJP Jagtial constituency in-charge Boga Sravani announced that MP Arvind would observe Dharma Deeksha on May 18 if the government failed to complete the land allocation process by May 15.
BJP leaders are also planning to invite State president Ramchander Rao and public representatives to the deeksha. Officials have to start classes from the 2026-27 academic year. There is a demand from the public to start the school in a temporary building from the next academic year.
