Delhi Public School: Unique community project on Earth Hour
Principal Sunitha Rao highlighted that DPS as an IGBC platinum rated school has traversed towards a new era of green education.

Delhi Public School, Nacharam conducted a webinar on June 18 on ‘What can I do about Cli- mate Change’ for students to understand and address the impacts of the climate crisis. The chief guest Prachi Shevgaonkar, founder of ‘Cool Globe App’ who took sustainable initiatives and mobilised global citizens towards cooling Earth impressed the students with her presenta tion.
Principal Sunitha Rao highlighted that DPS as an IGBC platinum rated school has traversed towards a new era of green education. She proudly showcased the initiatives by the Chairman M Komaraiah who is driven by a green vision shouldering many projects on energy and environment. She further announced the series of green drives the school has launched as a part of sustainable development goals such as the Earth hour, save water, harithaharam, plantation drive, compost pit are a few to name.
Prachi Shevgaonkar addressing the students, recollected the various stages of her cool jour- ney. The session was made interesting and interactive by drawing analogies and inviting opinions. The students were made aware of the antagonists of the planet, the catastrophic impact of climate change through graphic representations. She asserted that climate conservation is now more a responsibility than an opportunity and exhorted the audience to join the battle of climate conservation.
The session was propelled by the sr vice principal, Nandita Sunkara with a video on the glimpses of the school initia- tives projected by the students. She made a special mention of DPS green crusaders and in- spired young learners to make conscious effort towards values that school advocates and act as agents of change. Both the chief guest and the principal raised the curtains to launch a unique community project on Earth Hour by senior secondary as an extension of the school project.
