Development of Basar temple to begin soon: Indrakaran

Minister Indrakaran carrying silk clothes to offer them to the presiding deity at Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devi temple in Basar on Tuesday.

Nirmal: Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy said that developmental works would soon commence at Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devi temple in Basar, costing Rs 50 crore. As part of nine-day-long festivities, he offered silk clothes to the presiding deity Sri Saraswathi Devi and performed special prayers at the famed temple on Tuesday.

Indrakaran Reddy said that the government had sanctioned Rs 50 crore for developing the historical temple on many fronts. The construction of dormitory halls would commence soon as already, the dormitories were built spending Rs 8.5 crore, he said, adding, the steps were taken for smooth conduct of Navaratri festivities.

The Minister further said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao laid a special focus on the development of temples and accordingly, he renovated Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Yadadri which would be inaugurated in a couple of months in a grand manner.

Indrakaran stated that a Vice-Chancellor would be appointed for Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technologies (RGUKT)- Basar soon. The Minister was accompanied by Mudhole MLA G Vittal Reddy.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson K Vijayalaxmi, Farmer Coordination Committee chairman Ramkishan Reddy, Executive officer Vinod and many others were present.

Meanwhile, about 20,000 devotees visited the shrine and performed prayers. Parents conducted Aksharabhyasam (initiation of education) for their children, considering the auspicious occasion. Some pilgrims had a holy dip in the Godavari river and formed serpentine queue lines for taking darshan of the presiding deity.
