Devotee injured in stampede at Mallanna Swamy temple dies

Nirmal: A devotee who sustained serious injuries during a minor stampede at the annual fair celebrated on the premises of Sri Mallanna Swamy temple at New Mujgi village in Nirmal Rural mandal died while undergoing treatment on Monday.
Nirmal Rural Sub-Inspector Ch Mithun said that the deceased Muddarala Mallesh (40), a driver from Akkapur village in Nirmal Rural mandal. Mallesh sustained serious chest injuries when the frontal portion of the temple chariot hit him in the chest during a procession of the presiding deity as part of the fair. He was immediately shifted to a hospital in Nirmal. He was later rushed to a hospital in Hyderabad, where he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.
He was shooting the procession in his mobile at the time of the mishap. The police registered a case and took up investigation.
