Mulugu: ASP P Sai Chaitanya visited the Devuni Gutta temple located on a hillock near Kothur village in Mulugu mandal in the district on Sunday and termed the temple as an architectural marvel.
“The temple resembles the world-famous Angkor Wat temple, Cambodia. The temple needs to be protected,” he said.
The temple looks like a structure made of bricks but up close, one can see that the blocks are a mixture of sand and stone. The sanctum sanctorum also has several carvings. Historians estimate the age of the temple to be more than 1500 years, he added. The ASP was accompanied by SI Harikrishna and police personnel.
