Hyderabad: Deyyamtho Sahajeevanam, shortly DSJ, is one among the low budget films that is released in theatres this Friday. Its a revenge drama of a girl Naina, played by Natti Karuna.
A city-bred girl from a conservative family falls in love with a rich boy Chaitanya (played by Rajeev Saluri). But Chaitanya and his friends have hidden plans. Having habituated to the lavish lifestyle, the gang is notorious for playing with innocent girls and trap them
on social media. And victims who try to take them on, get killed without a trace or a clue for police to find out.
It’s obvious that a viewer can easily perceive that Naina face the same treatment. She gets killed in a most cruel way. How this event turns out to be? What’s the clue left by the murderers for the police to crack the mystery? How Naina turns a ghost to avenge the injustice that was meted out to her is the story to be looked into.
The title ‘Deyyamtho Sahajeevanam’ loosely translated in Telugu as ‘In relationship with a Ghost’ is entertaining in parts. Supurna Malakar, who plays the role of an actor-turned call girl impresses with her performance. She comes to the city in search of a new dream. Her aspirations to become a film actor however get sidetracked as she gets pulled into prostitution. She honey traps a politician (played by Babu Mohan) in Mumbai and dupes him of Rs 10 lakh. She does it with the help of his friend Sameer, (played by RJ Hemanth). This opening sequence between Supurna and Babu Mohan draws whistles from audiences. Producer-turned director Natti Kumar tried his hand at filmmaking with this film. Although the story is entertaining in parts, it misses out a few logics like why the ghost choses the call girl to accomplish her mission and also misses a few other threads in connecting the story.
Like any pulp horror story with a crime element wrapped around, ‘Deyyamtho Sahajeevanam’ is marred with cliched writing. Beating around the bush plot – showing an unseen ghost on the screen with a scary background score (apparently not so terrifying). Rajeev Saluri and Natti Karuna, the lead pair, have put up a good show despite the drawbacks in the story.
Cast: Rajeev Saluri, Natti Karuna, Babu Mohan, RJ Hemanth
Director: Natti Kumar
Music: Ravi Shankar
