Dilapidated school building collapses in Nirmal; four students hurt
Four students were injured after the roof of a dilapidated school building collapsed during the Badi Bata programme in Antharni village, Nirmal. Parents blamed official negligence, as the building’s condition had been repeatedly reported without action
Nirmal: Four students were injured when the roof of a dilapidated school building collapsed at Antharni village in Kubheer mandal on Friday.
Sources said that Sai Kumar, a Class II student from Tirpelli village, sustained a head injury and his condition is reported to be critical. Prem Gorekar, also in Class II, suffered fractures in both legs. Abhinay and Gorekar Pranay received minor injuries. All the injured students were admitted to the government hospital in Bhainsa.
The students, along with their teachers, were participating in the Badi Bata programme at the time of the incident. The collapse has raised serious concerns among parents about the safety of students attending classes in aging and unsafe school buildings. They urged the authorities to take immediate steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
Negligence by the concerned officials is being cited as the cause of the mishap. According to teachers, the poor condition of the building had been repeatedly brought to the attention of the authorities, but no action was taken.
“Had the officials acted in time and repaired the building, our children wouldn’t have been hurt,” a parent said.
