Director of City-based NGRI, Dr V M Tiwari has been chosen for the prestigious JC Bose Fellowship.

Hyderabad: Director of city-based National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), Dr V. M. Tiwari has been conferred with the prestigious JC Bose fellowship by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, in recognition for his outstanding scientific contributions.

The JC Bose fellowship is awarded to active scientists in recognition for their outstanding performance. The duration of the JC Bose fellowship will be initially for five years and in case the fellow superannuates during the term, it can be continued if the host institution is willing to host the fellowship up to 68 years.
The fellowship comes with an amount of Rs. 25,000 per month in addition to regular income along with a research grant of Rs. 15 lakh per annum and Rs. 1 lakh per annum towards overhead costs to the host institute.


Dr. Tiwari, who did his PG degree in Geophysics from BHU, Varanasi, has made unique and sustained research contributions towards inferring structure, properties, tectonic and hydrogeological regimes of the Indian lithosphere and adjoining regions from multi-scale gravity data using physics based models. Besides well cited research papers in leading journals; he has contributed significantly to the important R&D projects for the Oil and Mineral Industries in India.
