Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has alleged that a “major conspiracy” is underway in the ongoing Dharmasthala case, claiming a well-planned strategy is being orchestrated to tarnish reputations and undermine centuries-old traditions.
Speaking to reporters at Vidhana Soudha, Shivakumar refrained from naming individuals but said the intention was clear. “Someone is trying to bring disrepute to a long-standing tradition. We all have faith, and the state government administers the religious department with utmost respect. A masked man has given a statement to the court, and several leaders, including Shivalingegowda, Beluru Gopalakrishna, and Ashok Rai, have spoken about this in the CLP,” he said.
Shivakumar insisted the case was baseless, describing it as “empty” and “all noise, no substance.” He said the Chief Minister had directed that any false allegations or conspiracies should be thoroughly investigated and legal action taken against those responsible.
“The Home Minister will speak on this. I know the facts, but we want a professional investigation as the matter is before the court. No religion, Hinduism or otherwise, should have its sentiments hurt. Those guilty must be punished, but no one should be targeted without reason,” he stated.
Responding to BJP allegations against the Congress, the Deputy Chief Minister dismissed claims of political interference. “No, nothing of that sort. Whether it is Dharmasthala or any other religious place, we will not allow its dignity to be compromised. Our stand is clear: justice and respect for all religions equally. Both the party and the government are committed to this principle,” he asserted.
Shivakumar further noted that on Monday, all details related to the case would be presented by the Home Minister. He also cautioned against media and social media narratives, saying many interpretations were being circulated, but declined to comment on them directly, adding, “A great injustice has been done to them.”
