Hyderabad: The Domalguda Police on Friday arrested a caretaker in connection with the elderly couple robbery case reported in Himayathnagar earlier this week.
The arrested suspect M Govardhan, who was employed as a caretaker at the couple’s residence for a year, had allegedly assaulted them and robbed their gold ornaments on October 12.
Police said Govardhan, who is addicted to online betting, was under financial stress and robbed the couple for monetary gain. He pledged the stolen bangles for Rs 3.2 lakh and discarded the mobile phone en route to his native place in Andhra Pradesh. A gold chain had been retained for future disposal.
Based on a complaint, the police booked a case and traced him to his native village in Krishna district, where he was apprehended.
