District Collector S Venkat Rao launching the app here on Saturday.
Mahabubnagar: The Mahabubnagar district administration has come up with a unique mobile app ‘Naa Badi Kosam’ seeking funds from philanthropists and former students of schools for taking up development works or providing basic amenities at the schools.
“This is a novel way of giving it back to the school where we pursued our education,” said District Collector S Venkat Rao on Saturday. He formally launched the mobile app that was developed by District Informatics Centre and District Education Department.
In the past, the district administration had conducted the “Intintinki Vanda-Badiki Chanda” programme. As an extension to the programme, the district administration has now come with the mobile app, said Venkat Rao. This mobile app will facilitate people settled abroad or working in different cities to donate for the development of their respective schools.
All the donations made by former students or philanthropists will be utilised to improve sanitation on the school premises, provide basic amenities and other facilities. There are 632 primary schools, 91 Upper primary schools, 136 High schools, 14 KGBV and one model school in the district.
Due to the Corona pandemic situation, it can be risky for donors to physically come and make donations. Through this app, they can make donations for the preferred schools at the click of a button.
Though schools are closed currently, the funds will be used for the convenience of students like provision of better teaching equipment, sanitisers, masks, benches, furniture etc, he said. He complimented the Education Department as well as District Informatics Officer Satyanarayana Murthy for the initiative.
