Hyderabad: In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has directed all colleges/institutions under its ambit not to insist students on payment of full fee and to collect the same in three-four installments till normalcy is restored.

In its guidelines issued on Wednesday, the AICTE said the information relating to the fee payment should be displayed on the college website and communicate the same to students through an e-mail. The apex technical body has directed all colleges not to terminate faculty without enough disciplinary ground and due process of redressal.

Salary and other dues to the faculty/staff members should be released monthly on time and terminations if any made during the lockdown be withdrawn. This is to comply strictly, it said.

“Due to inability of certain students to access internet services, college/institutions are advised to allow students of other colleges/institutions in their vicinity to access the internet facility. Hence, colleges/institutions may accordingly permit students of other colleges/institutions to share their campus internet WiFi facility. Attendance rule may be relaxed in the light of the lockdown and unavailability of good bandwidth in certain rural areas,” it added.

Meanwhile, Telangana Schools Technical Colleges Employees Association, president, A Santosh Kumar said every year the AICTE has been issuing circular asking colleges to pay salaries to faculty in time and not to terminate faculty members but it failed to implement the same. “At least this year, the AICTE has to strictly implement its circular,” he said.
