DPS Mahendra Hills: Spunky sprout salad activity conducted
The learning experience enriched the students immensely.
Delhi Public school, Mahendra Hills endeavours to motivate its learners to learn from their experiences of everyday life and hence experiential learning is a significant aspect of our teaching-learning process. Towards this direction, the students of Grade VI participated in ‘spunky sprouts salad activity’ conducted by the science department to inculcate healthy eating habits in the learners.
As it is rightly said, “Your diet is a bank account, good food choices are good investments.” While learning the topic, “food”, the students were made to understand how healthy food, green veggies and salads are a must in a balanced diet. As part of the activity, the learners got their own ingredients and made super-healthy salads for their family. The excitement was evident on their faces as they enthusiastically geared up to turn into young master chefs.
The students also learned about the process of sprouting by germinating seeds and used sprouts as an active ingredient used to make their spunky salad which they later relished with their parents and grandparents at home. The learning experience enriched the students immensely.
