Mahabubabad: Senior physical science teacher and educational researcher Dr V Gurunadha Rao has been invited to participate in an ‘International Conference on Sustainability Education (ICSE)- 2021’ which is jointly conducted by the Mobius Foundation in partnership with UNESCO, UNEP, Climate Reality Project India, the Energy and Resource Institute (TERI), World Wild Fund for Nature – India (WWF India), Centre for Environment Education (CEE), Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE, Copenhagen), Earth Day Network, and many others. The third edition of ICSE will be conducted from September 9 to through the State-of-the-Art virtual platform enabling attendees to have the feel and experience of the real event.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Rao said that the two-day the conference would explore the ways to address the challenges halting the path of sustainable education. “ICSE 2021, planned with a view to exploring pathways to address current and emerging sustainability challenges through education by empowering learners with new skills, values and attitudes that lead to more sustainable societies. The Conference is organised as a major sustainability event to bring together thought leaders, practitioners, teachers, educators, policymakers as well as youth from around the globe to share innovative ideas, case studies, practices and policies and come forward with recommendations for incorporating environmental sustainability as a core concept in the school the education system,” he said and added that 2021 marks the launch of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021 – 2030).
“The first day of the ICSE 2021 will therefore focus on the theme “Education for Ecosystem Restoration”. The deliberations of the 2nd day will be devoted to the theme of “Climate Literacy”,” he added.
Gurunadha Rao, who is presently working at Zilla Parishad Secondary School at Kambalapally in Mahabubabad Mandal has been appreciated by the officials of the department of education, teachers and students. He attended more than 95 national and international conferences and presented research papers. He also published more than 50 articles in reputed national and international journals. Dr Rao obtained PhD degree from the Acharaya Nagarjuna University on ‘Student-centred education in physical science’ and also submitted a thesis for another PhD on “PET-Nanocomposites” at the Dravidian University.
