The encounter that took place in Abujhmad forests in Bastar region in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday attracted worldwide media attention as CPI (Maoist) Party Central Committee general secretary Namballa Keshav Rao alias Basava Raju was among the 27 Maoists killed in the encounter.

The DRG personnel of Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur and Kondagaon took part in the encounter. Different people’s organisations and Left parties demanded the government to order a judicial probe by a Supreme Court judge into the killing of Keshav Rao and 26 others in the encounter.
