Hyderabad: The Balanagar police on Tuesday arrested the driver of an auto trolley on charges of drunk driving and hitting a pedestrian fatally at IDPL Company on Saturday. A co-passenger, who accompanied him, was also arrested. They were booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

The arrested persons were M Mohan (19), a trolley driver and Pradeep Kumar Das (20), co-passenger, both from Raju Colony in Balanagar.
On Saturday late night, Mohan, who was in an inebriated condition, drove the trolley and hit one Shaik Hussain (28), of Rajendranagar, who had stopped his auto trolley on the roadside due to a repair. Hussain died on the spot.

Investigation revealed that Mohan drove the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and without a valid driving licence. His co-passenger Pradeep Kumar Das too, knowing that the driver Mohan was driving under the influence of alcohol, allowed him to drive and also encouraged him to drink more.
