Hyderabad: Faculty from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Hyderabad, Pabitra K Nayak has been selected for the Swarnajayanti Fellowship 2020-2021, a press release from TIFR on Monday said.
Nayak joined TIFR Hyderabad in 2019 and is working towards the development of semiconductor materials.The TIFR researcher and faculty is presently studying the properties of materials, such as halide perovskites and small organic molecule-based solids, for their use as the next generation of semiconductors. These semiconductor materials have potential applications in solar cells, light emitters, sensors, and bio-electronics.
The prestigious Swarnajayanti Fellowships from Department of Science and Technology (DST), are awarded to young scientists for addressing innovative research problems. Scientists selected for the award are allowed to pursue unfettered research with a freedom and flexibility in terms of expenditure as approved in the research plan. According to DST, the award consists of a fellowship of Rs 25, 000 per month in addition to the salary drawn from the parent Institute for a period of five years.
