Jagtial: Aletta Andrew, South Asia correspondent of Dutch Broadcasting Foundation (NOS), visited Jagtial to study the problems of Gulf migrants in the area. She along with her crew toured several villages and interviewed families of migrant labourers and Gulf returnees on Wednesday.

Andrew first visited Thipaipalli of Kodimyal mandal and interviewed Narukulla Anitha, wife of Srinivas, who died in Qatar recently. She sought information from the family on the social security schemes and whether they get any financial assistance from the company and government. Anitha informed her that she was earning a livelihood working under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

She then spoke to Gulf returnee Ilapur Narsaiah, who settled in the village after returning from Oman. Narsaiah had worked for 15 years in Oman. Later, Andrew interacted with the staff of Hansika Manpower Consultancy in Jagtial which facilitates migration of labour to Gulf countries in search of employment.

Labour union president Swadesh Parikipandla and NRI Mitra guided the Dutch reporter while Overseas Friends Association representative Thota Dharmender explained about the problems being faced by Gulf labourers.

Earlier in the morning, Jagtial Press Club president Chiti Srinivas Rao welcomed Andrew with a flower bouquet.
