EAGLE force busts ganja transport racket in Hyderabad, three held with 11.7 kg contraband
The EAGLE Force and Musheerabad police busted an interstate ganja transportation racket and arrested three persons with 11.767 kg of ganja worth Rs 5.88 lakh. Police said the accused brought the contraband from Visakhapatnam and planned to sell it in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad: The EAGLE Force, in coordination with Musheerabad Police, busted an inter-state ganja transportation racket and apprehended three persons with 11.767 kg of ganja worth around Rs 5.88 lakh on Wednesday.
The suspects are Burthi Raju Kumar (25), a driver, Yarnagula Lakshmi Jagadeesh (20), a second-year BA student, and Marampudi Ravi Raju (19), a labourer — and are residents of Andhra Pradesh. Another suspect, Reshwanth alias Nimmu from Amalapuram, is absconding.
According to police, the gang procured the ganja from unknown suppliers in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, at a lower price and planned to sell it in Hyderabad at a higher price to make quick money.
Police said the accused procured the ganja from Visakhapatnam on July Monday and reached Hyderabad by train the next day. After reaching Risalagadda Haveli in Bakaram, Reshwanth allegedly asked the other three to wait there while he went to bring the customers. Meanwhile, the EAGLE Force team along with Musheerabad police caught the three persons along with the contraband.
The police said that among those arrested, Yarnagula Lakshmi Jagadeesh, who is pursuing BA second year, recently purchased a new bike. To clear the vehicle loan EMI, he allegedly entered into ganja smuggling.
The police seized 11.767 kg of ganja, one Vivo Y36 5G mobile phone, and two Lava keypad mobile phones from the gang.
