Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao said the Economic Survey 2025-26 dealt a blow to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy‘s diversion drama to issue notices to BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in the alleged phone-tapping case. He said the Congress government’s efforts to downplay a decade of development under the BRS, have repeatedly faltered.
In a statement, Rama Rao said the survey had vividly showcased Telangana’s remarkable progress during the BRS rule over a decade. He reminded that institutions like the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and NITI Aayog and international publications like The Economist, have acknowledged Telangana’s governance. “The Central Government’s Economic Survey now adds to that list of recognition,” he said.
Citing the report, the former Minister pointed to a sharp rise in cultivated area from 1.31 crore acres in 2014 to 2.2 crore acres by 2023. The Economic Survey credited this expansion to Telangana’s flagship initiatives like the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme and Mission Kakatiya.
“These schemes have been instrumental in providing irrigation water to an additional 89 lakh acres over nine years,” he said, pointing to the State’s irrigation gains as a validation of the BRS government’s focus on rural and agricultural development.
