Hyderabad: The EducationUSA undergraduate virtual fair will be held on September 3 for students interested in pursuing their Associates or Bachelor’s degrees in the United States.
About 100 US colleges and universities will virtually participate in the fair. Students can register for the fair at https://bit.ly/UGEdUSAFair21EmbWeb to meet EducationUSA Advisers and US university representatives.
Prior to this, the annual university fair organized by EducationUSA was held virtually on August 27. More than hundred US higher education institutions participated in the EducationUSA Graduate Virtual Fair, which was attended by thousands of students from four countries across South and Central Asia, according to a press release. The fair, designed for students interested in pursuing their graduate studies in the US, delivered expert information about educational options at the Master’s and PhD levels in the US.
More than 6,000 students from across India attended the Graduate Virtual Fair, with 32% (1,962) of all attendees from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Odisha. There was a 44% increase in the number of attendees from the three States at the 2021 Graduate Virtual Fair compared to last year, indicating an increased interest among students from the region in pursuing their higher education in the US.
The top city in India, with the highest number of registrations and attendees at the fair, was Hyderabad.
“The United States continues to attract international students from across the globe, including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha,” said Joel Reifman, US Consul General in Hyderabad.
The virtual fair allowed students to explore various university and college booths from the comfort of their homes and converse with representatives from participating institutions. Students were able to download university information brochures at the booths. The participating universities offered a range of specializations and programs at the graduate level.
Testing agencies ETS and Pearson also participated in the fair to inform students about TOEFL, GRE and PTE tests. EducationUSA Advisers and a Visa Officer from the US Embassy in New Delhi were available at the EducationUSA India booth to respond to student queries related to the US university application and student visa process. The EducationUSA India booth also hosted a recorded session on US student visas by a visa officer at the US Embassy and EducationUSA handouts on U.S. university admission/application processes.
Participating institutions at the fair included Colorado State University, Florida International University, the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Syracuse University, the University of Vermont, Central Michigan University and the Pittsburgh State University.
Currently, India is the second largest country of origin of international students in the US, with around 18 percent of international students in the country from India. These students are pursuing courses or undergoing practical training through one of the more than 4,700 universities and colleges in the US, the release added..
