Medak: The annual jatara at the Sri Vana Durga Bhavani temple in Edupayala began on Maha Shivaratri on Wednesday.
The festivities commenced with priests performing Panchamruta Abhishekam to the presiding deity at 4.30 am. Darshan for the devotees began at 5.30 am. Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and Collector Rahul Raj presented silk vastrams to Goddess Durga Bhavani.
Devotees from across the State arrived in huge numbers to have darshan of the presiding deity. RTC operated special buses to Edupayala from Medak, Sangareddy, Jogipet, Narsapur and Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, festivities also commenced at Sri Kethaki Sangameshwara Swamy temple, Jharasangam, Sri Bramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Beeramguda among many other temples across erstwhile Medak. The Shaivite temples across the district witnessed a huge turnout.
