Adilabad: Tribal Welfare Minister Sathyavathi Rathod said that efforts were on to develop Nagoba temple on various fronts and to protect the distinct culture and traditions of ethnic tribes.
Rathod, along with Forest Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, visited the ancient temple at Keslapur village in Indervelli mandal on Wednesday. They both reviewed arrangements being made for the annual Nagoba jatara with the authorities concerned. The five-day fair is an important religious and cultural affair of the Mesram clan.
Sathyavathi instructed the officials of various departments to make elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the fair. She stated that the government was allocating funds for creating basic amenities at the holy structures during the religious affairs of tribals. She was accorded a warm welcome by members of the Mesram clan. She then performed special prayers at the temple by visiting the holy place.
Zilla Parishad chairpersons Rathod Janardhan, K Vijayalaxmi, MLAs Ajmeera Rekha Naik, Rathod Bapu Rao, Collector Sikta Patnaik, ITDA-Utnoor Project Officer Ankith Kumar, former Adilabad MP Godam Nagesh, Nagoba temple governing committee chairman Mesram Manohar and many others were present.
