Nagarkurnool: Seven persons, including a woman and a teenager, died on the spot and one person sustained injuries when two cars were involved in a head-on collision near Chennaram Gate, Ayyavaripally, Uppanuntala mandal, on the Hyderabad-Srisailam Highway on Friday. All the victims were residents of Suchitra junction and Anandbagh in Hyderabad.
According to officials, the accident occurred around 6 pm and the injured was Naresh Kumar and was shifted to a local hospital in Achampet. While Ford Figo car, bearing registration number AP31 BH 2247, was heading to Hyderabad from Srisailam end and the other car Toyota Etios (TS 10 UC 3128) was proceeding towards Srisailam from Hyderabad.
The three deceased travelling in Ford Figo were Vamshi (27), Venkatesh (28) and one unidentified person aged between 20-30 years. The four other travelling in Toyota Etios were Shiva Kumar, Murthy, Subbalaxmi and one boy aged about 15 years.
District Collector L Sharman and Achampet MLA Guvvala Balaraju visited the accident spot.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao expressed shock over the accident and enquired about the accident with Achampet MLA Guvvala Balaraju.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: “Condolences to those, who lost their loved ones in an accident in Nagarkurnool, Telangana. May the injured recover at the earliest. From PMNRF, an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each will be given to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 would be given to the injured.”
