Siddipet: An eight-year-old mountaineer from Siddipet successfully reached Gilman’s Point on Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest peak on African continent, on Thursday.
Mountaineer Jetoth Vihanram (8), a native of Hanuman Thanda in Dhoolmitta mandal, is a Class IV student. Vihan is the son of Excise Constable Tirupathi Nayak, working in Karimnagar. Vihan started his mountaineering journey last summer and climbed Mount Patalsu in October 2024 on his first expedition.
Since he showed great interest in mountaineering, his father took him to the Mt Kilimanjaro expedition. The team left for Tanzania on January 10. However, Vihan aborted his expedition just 60 minutes away from the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro as he suffered stomach pain and headache.
Gilman’s Point is situated at 5,756 metres from sea level, and Uhuru Peak, the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro, is situated at 5,895 metres.
Speaking to ‘Telangana Today’, Tirupathi said his son wanted to complete the seven summits in his life.
